Hi, I’m Delme Linscott and this is my story…
My name is Delme Linscott and yes, my name is curiously unusual.
Delme is of Gaelic origin and comes from the French word: ‘Del-Mar’, meaning “from the sea.”
So, this is me – a born and bred South African, with a Gaelic first name, an Anglo-Scottish surname, and family roots in Europe. Yes, I am a little complex, but hey, who isn’t?
I have been happily married for nearly 25 years and Kim and I have been blessed with 3 sons. Besides travel, I enjoy running – both trail and road – as well as most other sports. We are fortunate to live close to the ocean and I love swimming in the sea, bodyboarding, walking on the white-sand beaches and taking in majestic sunsets. You can also tempt me with a cup of really good coffee (yes, I am a coffee-snob), which one can find at one of the great cafes on the Southern Peninsula of the fairest Cape.
Workwise, I have been serving as a minister (pastor) in several Churches all over South Africa. This has been my calling for over 25 years and still occupies a lot of my time. The usual joke is that minister’s only work one day a week, which is fortunate, as it gives me more time to blog, travel and run 😊
